Lake Imaging are celebrating 20 years of servicing the Ballarat community with medical imaging services. What started as a single radiology clinic named in recognition of our local Lake Wendouree, has now expanded into 20 clinics throughout regional and central Victoria.
Over the last 5 years, Lake have been a proud partner of the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute, and continue to support their research efforts in finding a cure for cancer. The doctors at Lake Imaging work closely with Ballarat’s leading oncologists, Professor George Kannourakis and Dr Prashanth Prithviraj with oncologic medical imaging to aid in the detection and treatment of cancers.
Situated at SJOG Hospital, Howitt St Wendouree and Daylesford, Lake Imaging offer high-quality medical imaging using state-of-the-art imaging equipment. Their recent investment into a new oncologic PET-CT scanner, means that the people of Ballarat have access to the best of medical imaging to provide detailed and accurate results. To better understand the importance of quality imaging, consider a scanner to that of an ordinary camera – the brand, technology features and age of the camera impacts image quality, which is why Lake Imaging only invest in trusted and reliable scanning equipment.
Clinical Director of Nuclear Medicine at Lake Imaging, Dr Stefan Khosh, says that “radiology and the technology behind it, has significantly progressed over the years. Since its beginnings, Lake Imaging has invested in state-of-the-art scanners and imaging equipment in Ballarat. We can therefore continue our tradition of providing the most accurate diagnoses and the best possible patient experience to our community. We have recently upgraded our PET scanner to one of the most advanced scanners in the world, which will help to detect cancer earlier and more accurately and is sure to result in better treatment outcomes for our patients.”.
Lake Imaging are passionate about community and giving back, which is why FECRI is an important organisation to recognise and support. With medical imaging playing a critical role in the early detection and diagnosis of cancer, as well as many other medical conditions, it is vital that people don’t delay any medical imaging requested by their practitioner.
Many of us know of someone who is battling cancer or grappling another type of illness. With statistics showing around 151,000 cancer cases in Australia each year, it is vital that people take a pro-active approach to their health and don’t ignore any signs and symptoms that could potentially be detrimental to their health.
Radiology Saves Lives. As the region’s trusted and compassionate radiology provider, Lake Imaging are proud of their 20-year history in Ballarat and partnership with FECRI and other community organisations. Lake Imaging offer bulk billing to all oncology patients for examinations that fulfill Medicare criteria. They also bulk bill pensioners, health care card holders and concession patients for eligible scans that are Medicare rebateable.
